We collected Louie from BW on a grey June morning 2020, we were to be Louie’s third home, he was a Golden Oldie, BW were not too sure how old he was, anywhere between 9-11.
For the first two years Louie looked so lost and bewildered. He seemed so unsure about how to be a free beagle and how to enjoy his beagle senses. Slowly he began to love his daily walks, so much so he would start baying at us if we were keeping him waiting! On his walks he made lots of doggy friends to run freely with. Everyone knew when Louie had arrived, they could hear him a mile off! His personality began to shine through, he knew he was part of our family, we were his pack buddies and he loved us and we loved him.
Sadly, being a Golden Oldie we only had 4 and half years with Louie. He was diagnosed with a splenic tumour in May 2024, the vet wanted to put him to sleep there and then. We were not prepared to do that and nor was Louie, he was determined to live, and spent the next 33 weeks loving every day of his life. On Friday 7th February 2025 we had to make the hardest decision and put him to sleep.
Lou was loving and cuddly, just happy to enjoy being the center of our world. He was never left alone and we made sure he went everywhere with us. It gave us great joy seeing him so happy and loving his life. He really was therapy for the soul. He asked nothing of us, but gave us everything.
His passing has left us feeling very lost and heart broken, we miss him terribly, he was such an amazing hound.
Thanks for everything Lou Poo X
