Beattie

Hi Team,

I wanted to write and thank Beagle Welfare for letting me adopt this adorable little girl. I saw Beattie on the Beagle Welfare in the Summer of 2023, we had rehomed one of your beagles in January and felt he would be better with a companion. Beattie had sadly been returned to Beagle Welfare after just one day, as she was apparently too noisy. The only noise she made was doing a tigger jump at dinner and brekkie and a little yodel when the dish was put down, I don’t think I will ever forget the day I drove up to see Helen Rogers who brought her out into her courtyard, whilst the other dogs she had,  were looking on through the gate.

I took our other rescue Bennie with me and they bonded almost straight away, I couldn’t walk away, you could tell how cute she was. The drive home, she allowed a stranger to put on a harness, be buckled in and she sat in the back seat gazing at Bennie and when we got home, it felt like she had been with us for years, their bond was almost instant.

She was the sweetest, most gentle little soul anyone could ever want, just 8.5 years with a sad backstory like so many. Beattie bought laughter and smiles into the home, she was cheekie, stubborn and adorable at the same time. She loved her walks, going in the car, gazing out of the window, meeting new dogs and exploring new places, and trying to get as many treats as she could get out of you, including fruit and fresh vegetables which was a bonus.  She soothed her brother when he was anxious, enjoyed snuggling with him on their summer bed, even though they had their own beds, they enjoyed snuggling next to each other on the sofa, on the floor, in the car or in their beds.

We sadly lost her on 1st November 2025 to  hemangiosarcoma, such a terrible thing to get and very aggressive and it broke my heart to have to say goodbye after she had a stroke due to the cancer. She was so loved in just over the 2 years we had her, she is sorely missed with a huge hole in the family.  Her brother misses her so much and I hope she is racing as she loved too, in the grass fields of the happy hunting ground chasing things she loved to chase and bringing joy to everyone she meets.

Thank you Beagle Welfare and Helen for letting me adopt her and for her bringing so much joy to those she met and the lives she touched.

Best wishes

Audrey Blackler
