Toby is a tricolour male, born on 11th September 2016. Toby needs a new home as he is struggling to cope around a young child in his home. He is microchipped.
Toby is happy to walk either on a harness or with his lead clipped to his collar. He can be let off lead, but can be selective about when he hears you calling him back, especially if he discovers a scent he wants to investigate, so secure fields are a safe option for him. While Toby is used to travelling in the car, he can still suffer from car sickness. There have been two incidents in his home where Toby has snapped at the young child, but other than that, he has been friendly and happy with everyone he has met. He just does not seem to like small children. After being bitten by a larger dog when he was still a youngster, Toby is very wary of dogs larger than him. He enjoys playing with smaller dogs, although he will try to boss them around.
At home, Toby is house trained and crate trained, and enjoys spending time in his crate. He is used to spending a few hours on his own if you need to go out without him. He is not destructive of household items, and has never tried to escape from his secure garden. If Toby steals an item, he will drop it when told to.
Toby has never lived with cats, so would prefer a cat free home. Due to snapping at the young child in his current home, it is quite clear that Toby would prefer a home with adults only, or adults with older children. Toby responds well to having a routine, and being in a calm environment where he knows what to expect. Despite having an allergy to chicken, Toby still enjoys his food, particularly carrots, and can move as fast as lightning if he sees you drop some food at dinner time. He really enjoys a belly rub, playing with his toy ball, and being off lead in secure fields where he can wander and sniff to his heart’s content.
