Oliver is a handsome 4½-year-old tri-coloured Beagle looking for his new home. 💙
Oliver is a friendly boy who has lots to offer his new family. He is house-trained, used to travelling in the car and can be left for around 4–5 hours. He has not attended formal training classes, so his new family will have the opportunity to continue building on his skills and confidence.
He is happy to live with another dog and has a good reaction when meeting other dogs while out on lead. He has not had off-lead interactions with other dogs, so these would need to be introduced carefully.
Oliver does have some food-related behaviours that his new family will need to understand and manage. He can guard his food and particularly enjoys hiding larger chew sticks, which he may then guard. Smaller treats are more suitable for him. His new family will need to be comfortable continuing appropriate resource-guarding management and training.
Oliver has not been assessed with cats, so his suitability to live with cats is currently unknown.
Oliver would suit a family who can give him time, patience, consistency and plenty of Beagle-appropriate enrichment, while continuing his training and helping him settle into his new life.
Oliver came into the rehoming centre with some skin and eye issues, these have reduced since being on medication regular medicated baths and eye drops 3 times a day.
