About Moxley
Moxley is a bright, affectionate, and lively beagle who adores human company. He has been well loved since puppyhood, but due to a marital separation and a full-time teaching career, his owner can no longer provide the time and attention he truly needs. With long working hours and no option for a dog walker, it isn’t fair on Moxley — and his owner wants to make the responsible choice to find him a loving home where he can thrive.
Moxley is a friendly, cuddly companion who enjoys being close to his people, especially in the evenings when he becomes a total snuggle-bug. He loves walks, exploring outdoors, and meeting other dogs, particularly other beagles.
Moxley’s Training & Behaviour
- Lead training: Pulls on the lead; walks with a Leader or harness/Leader combo.
- Recall: No — cannot be let off lead.
- Training history: Attended classes as a puppy.
- Crate behaviour: Settles well in his crate and can sleep there overnight.
- Being left alone: Can be left around 4 hours but only in his crate.
- In the home: Will settle loose in the house during short periods (e.g., shower, housework).
- Destruction: Not destructive.
- Stealing items: May steal, but happily allows items to be taken back.
- Vocal behaviour:
- Barks/heckles at postal workers or people in high-vis clothing
- Loud but not aggressive — just alarmed and excitable
- Kept away from the door to avoid overarousal
- Dogs: Vocal and excited when seeing dogs; wants to greet. Gets on well with familiar dogs.
- Cats: Unknown.
- Children: Very good with children

- Feeding times:
- Morning: approx. 9am

- Stomach: Does best on grain-free due to wind issues.
- Sleeping: Crate under the stairs, covered with a blanket.
Personality
Moxley is a loving, lively, fun dog with plenty of energy and enthusiasm. He enjoys:
- Cuddles — especially in the evenings
- Walks and outdoor adventures
- Playtime with other family dogs
- Being part of the action in a busy home
He can sometimes become overexcited when visitors arrive and may jump up or attempt to hump legs. With training and consistent boundaries, this behaviour can be improved — he’s bright, eager, and food-motivated, which makes him very trainable.
He’s also quite the foodie, so human meals need to be kept out of reach!
The Ideal Home for Moxley
Moxley would suit:
✔ A home with time to give him exercise, structure, and affection
✔ A family or adult household that enjoys walking and outdoor activities
✔ A home with another friendly dog (he enjoys canine company)
✔ Someone able to continue his training and lead manners
Final Thoughts
Moxley is a lovable, happy, spirited beagle who will make a wonderful companion for the right family. His owner’s decision to rehome him is heartbreaking but made out of pure love — she wants Moxley to have the attention, time, and joyful life he deserves.
He is affectionate, playful, and full of personality, and with ongoing training and plenty of exercise, he will be a truly fantastic family dog.
