Moose Ref 3531

Moose is a e 7-year-old Beagle who is searching for a very special new home.

Moose is a typical Beagle in so many ways – affectionate, cheeky, food-loving and happiest when he’s close to his people. He adores cuddles and, if you sit cross-legged on the floor, he’ll happily climb onto your lap for a snooze. He loves being involved in everything you’re doing and will happily follow you from room to room as your little shadow. Whether he’s stretching out in a sunny spot, snoozing in front of the radiator with his legs in the air, or curling up after a long walk, Moose is a wonderful companion who loves nothing more than being part of the family.

He is fully house-trained, travels brilliantly in the car, and is happy to be left for up to 4 Hours. Moose previously used a crate as a youngster and treated it as his safe space, although he hasn’t needed one for several years.

Moose walks well on both a collar and harness and knows commands such as “Stop pulling,” “With me,” and “Come.” He can be let off lead in carefully chosen, secure locations and has a good recall to a whistle or his name, although, like many Beagles, a particularly exciting scent can sometimes get the better of him. He loves running with other dogs, especially chasing games, and enjoys exploring beaches and countryside walks. Water isn’t really his thing though – he’ll happily walk around a puddle rather than through it and prefers staying warm and dry in his coat during wet weather. He can be vocal when you first start a walk but soon calms down.

Around other dogs, Moose is generally sociable and playful. He enjoys canine company and has happily spent extended periods living alongside other dogs. He can occasionally become defensive if he is on lead and an off-lead dog rushes towards him, and he isn’t particularly keen on flat-faced breeds, but overall he enjoys meeting and playing with other friendly dogs.

Like any self-respecting Beagle, Moose is incredibly food motivated. He knows his manners around his own meals, sitting patiently until given permission to eat, and responds well to commands such as “Leave it” and “Into bed” while people are eating. However, if food is left unattended, he’ll certainly seize the opportunity! His favourite treats include sardines, yoghurt pots, milk bottles to lick clean, and natural chews such as pig’s ears, rabbit ears and chicken feet.

Moose’s ideal home is an experienced adult-only home with no children or visiting young children.

Moose cannot be rehomed to a home with children. He needs owners who understand canine body language, will respect his boundaries, and can provide him with a calm, predictable environment where he feels safe.

Moose has so much love to give the right people. He is described as a wonderful, loyal boy.
