About Marley
Marley is a young, lively beagle with a huge personality and an even bigger heart. He is incredibly affectionate — personal space simply doesn’t exist in Marley’s world! If you sit down, he will sit on you, not beside you. He thrives on closeness, cuddles, tummy rubs, and being involved in everything you’re doing.
He is playful, curious, and very food-motivated (a true beagle!). Marley loves puzzle toys, balls, and anything that involves treats. He also enjoys helping in the kitchen — mainly supervising in case something drops!
Reason for Rehoming
Marley’s family are no longer home much during the day, and they feel it’s unfair on him. This decision has been made with his happiness and wellbeing in mind.
Training & Behaviour
- Walked on a harness and extendable lead (does pull)
- Walks well on a training lead
- Attended a 4-week training course as a puppy
- Housetrained
- Crate trained (sleeps overnight in his crate in the kitchen)
- Can be left alone for a couple of hours
- Travels well in the car (no long journeys yet)
- Recall not reliable – must remain on lead during walks
Marley can be protective over stolen items (especially tea towels!) and sometimes around food, but he responds well to swapping for a treat. He has shown no aggression towards people.
Social Life
- Attends doggy daycare and gets on very well with other dogs
- Likely to enjoy living with another friendly dog
- Friendly when meeting dogs on lead
- Lives with a cat — will chase and bark but they coexist separately
- Good with older children
Food & Routine
- Currently on Purina BETA puppy food
- Healthy appetite (loves food — especially a Sunday roast!)
- Has a habit of barking at his food before eating
Likes & Personality
- Sitting on his humans
- Ball games
- Puzzle toys
- Sniffing absolutely everything on walks
- Chasing squirrels (ambitiously!)
- Cuddles, kisses, tummy rubs
- Making his family laugh
Marley is very loving, very funny, and a little bit stubborn — all classic beagle traits.
Ideal Home
Marley would thrive in:
- An active home with time for walks and mental stimulation
- Owners who understand scent-driven breeds
- A secure garden
- Possibly another friendly dog for companionship
- A family who don’t mind a shadow that sits directly on their lap
He is still young and will benefit from continued training, especially around lead pulling and recall.
Marley is a joyful, affectionate boy who simply wants to be included in family life. With the right home, he will bring laughter, love, and lots of very close cuddles.
