Maggie May Ref 3503

Maggie May Ref 3503

Maggie May is a beautiful tri-colour beagle looking for a loving new home with someone who understands the breed and can give her the reassurance and companionship she needs.

She is a gentle, affectionate girl who enjoys being close to her people and loves anything food-related—as most beagles do!

Maggie is microchipped, wormed, and generally in good health for her age. She has a couple of harmless fatty lumps that have been checked by the vet.

About Maggie

Maggie is a sweet and loving dog who forms strong bonds with her owner. She enjoys a calm home life, loves attention, and is happiest when near her people.

  • Housetrained
  • Crate trained
  • Travels well and is getting more confident in the car
  • Sleeps happily in her own bed in the bedroom

She enjoys toys like tug ropes, lick mats, and puzzle games, especially when treats are involved.

Exercise & Lead Behaviour

Maggie enjoys her walks and settles nicely after an initial little pull on the lead.

  • Can be scent-driven and scavenges if given the chance
  • Recall training had started but she has not regularly been off lead
  • Occasionally lunges towards other dogs out of excitement, not aggression

She has never shown aggression towards other dogs.

Important Considerations

Separation Anxiety:
Maggie struggles being left alone and can become distressed:

  • Becomes anxious and worked up if left
  • Can become destructive when stressed
  • Would suit a home where someone is around most of the time

Resource Guarding:
If Maggie has something she shouldn’t have, she may growl or snarl when it is taken away. This is manageable with understanding and careful handling.

Social Behaviour

  • Generally good with other dogs
  • Could potentially live with another calm dog after proper introductions
  • Could live with cats with time and adjustment

Food & Feeding

Maggie is very food-motivated and enjoys:

  • Lick mats
  • Puzzle feeders
  • Treat games
  • Butcher’s grain-free food with tripe

As a typical beagle, she loves scavenging and will look for food opportunities whenever possible.

Ideal Home

Maggie would thrive in:

  • A calm, understanding home
  • Someone experienced with beagles or scent hounds
  • Owners who are around most of the day
  • A home willing to continue building her confidence when left alone

Another friendly dog may help her settle and feel more secure.

Final Thoughts

Maggie is a loving, loyal, and affectionate older girl who still has plenty of life and love to give. In the right home, with patience and understanding, she will make a devoted and rewarding companion.
