Jake

About Jake

Jake is a tricolour male, born on 13th August 2012.  He needs a new home as he is struggling to accept his owner’s pregnancy.  Jake is microchipped.

Jake really enjoys his walks, and is walked wearing a harness to keep his excited pulling under control.  He is allowed off lead during walks, and will always come back if you have a tasty treat for him.  Jake is used to travelling in the car, and while he will initially whine, he will settle after a few minutes.  Jake has only shown aggression to people twice in his life, and those were isolated incidents.  He is quite an independent soul when out for his walks, and would prefer not to be approached by other dogs when he’s on lead.  If they come to see him while he’s off lead, he plays nicely with them.

At home, Jake is house trained and crate trained.  He can be left on his own for a few hours, He is not destructive and has never tried to escape from his secure garden, although he likes to try and get to the post as soon as it arrives, so a letter box cage is essential if you don’t want your mail chewed.  While Jake is not a serial thief, he does like to pinch socks and towels, and run around with them.

Jake has never lived with cats, so would prefer a cat free home.  He has not lived with children, and given that he is showing unusual behaviour to his pregnant owner, it seems he would be happiest in a home with adults only, or adults with older children.  Whilst Jake gets along with other dogs out an about, we think he would be best as an only dog in the home. Jake is a real attention seeker, who will go as far as sitting on your feet if he thinks you’re not paying enough attention to him.  He enjoys the quieter things in life, like sitting on a comfy chair and watching the world go by, or wrapping himself up in a blanket for a nap.  In his more active moments, he will chase flies, or play a few rounds of fetch with a tennis ball.  Jake is a fan of the outdoors, so he would like to be part of a home where he’ll get to enjoy the great outdoors as much as possible.
