About Daisy

Daisy is a bright, high-energy beagle with a huge personality and an even bigger zest for life. She is clever, inquisitive, and thrives on activity and mental stimulation. She absolutely loves being outdoors and would happily spend all day outside exploring, sunbathing, or rolling in the grass for tummy rubs.

At home, Daisy is affectionate once she feels comfortable and has “sussed you out.” She’s very intelligent — she can even operate door handles to let herself in and out! She loves interactive games, learning new tricks, and working for her food through enrichment toys.

Reason for Rehoming

Since the arrival of a baby, Daisy’s owners are struggling to meet her very high exercise needs. Daisy requires around 2 hours of brisk walking daily, along with mental stimulation. With two dogs in the household who have very different needs, it has become increasingly difficult to give Daisy the outlet she requires, and she has started showing frustration through destructive behaviour.

This decision has been made with Daisy’s best interests at heart.

Exercise & Training

  • Walks nicely on a Halti
  • Tends to pull without it
  • Attended Dogs Trust puppy classes
  • Crate trained (sleeps downstairs in her crate)
  • Can be left for up to 4 hours if exercised well beforehand
  • Travels fine for a couple of hours
  • Can be let off lead in open, visible areas (may range far)
  • Secure garden required

Daisy is extremely intelligent and benefits greatly from enrichment such as Kongs and puzzle feeding.

🐶 Behaviour & Social Skills

With Dogs:

  • Lives with another beagle
  • Loves off-lead play and can play rough
  • On lead: 90% of dogs are fine
  • May bark and lunge at some larger breeds (e.g. Huskies, German Shepherds)
  • Worse when walked alongside her housemate; much better when walked alone

With People:

  • Can be nervous and may bark/growl at specific individuals (often older people)
  • Wary of boisterous children when out

Around Food:

  • No guarding issues
  • Used to regular enrichment feeding throughout the day

Feeding Routine

  • Skinner’s Field & Trial food
  • Enrichment feeding (Kongs) at 7am, 10am, 1pm, 3pm
  • Evening meal between 5–6pm (often fed outside in a Kong)

Likes & Dislikes

Loves:

  • Long brisk walks
  • Bush scrubbing
  • Sunbathing
  • Tummy rubs
  • Interactive games
  • Learning tricks
  • Being outdoors in all weather

Dislikes:

  • The vets
  • Having her paws touched
  • Being towel dried

Ideal Home

Daisy would thrive in:

  • A very active home
  • Someone experienced with high-energy or working-type beagles
  • A rural or semi-rural setting
  • A secure garden
  • Owners committed to daily exercise and mental stimulation
  • Possibly as the only dog, or with a compatible calm dog

She is not a low-maintenance beagle — but in the right environment, Daisy will be an incredibly loyal, entertaining, and loving companion.

Daisy is full of personality, intelligence, and heart. She simply needs the right outlet for her energy and a home that matches her adventurous spirit.
