Cleo Ref 3578

Cleo is a 6-year-old female Beagle,

About Cleo

Cleo is a friendly, sociable Beagle who enjoys being involved with other dogs and loves attention from her people. She enjoys walks, outdoor play, chasing a ball and, of course, food!

She is also quite happy to spend time lounging around and relaxing.

Training & Behaviour

Cleo is housetrained and crate trained. She can be left for a few hours and travels well in the car.

She walks well on lead but will pull when she picks up an interesting scent. She has not attended formal training classes.

Cleo should only be allowed off lead in secure enclosed fields. She is not reported to be an escapologist from a secure garden.

She is not destructive and stolen items can be taken from her without difficulty.

People & Children

Cleo has shown no aggression towards people.

She is comfortable around her current carer’s 10-year-old child. Her carer feels that a home with children aged 10+ who are dog-savvy and understand and respect a dog’s personal space would be most appropriate.

Cleo does have some sensitivities around personal space. She does not like having her ears or face touched and dislikes having her nails done, so these boundaries will need to be respected.

Other Dogs

Cleo enjoys being around other dogs and could live with another suitable dog.

She can become defensive if another dog attempts to hump her or gets directly in her face. In these situations she may growl as a warning, but there has been no reported biting.

When approaching dogs on lead, she can become very excited and may bark.

When off lead in a secure environment, Cleo’s hackles may rise when meeting another dog, but she is generally happy to interact and play provided the other dog is not displaying aggression towards her.

A compatible canine companion could therefore be a positive part of her new home, with appropriate introductions and respect for her boundaries.

Cats

Cleo cannot live with cats. She has a very strong negative reaction to cats and became extremely distressed when she encountered them at the vets.

Food

Cleo is food motivated and has always been fed separately from the other dogs. She is comfortable with people taking food from her.

She is currently fed Milbury Hill Grain Free and Naturo.

Sleeping

Cleo sleeps in the lounge with the other dogs.

What Cleo Loves

Cleo enjoys:

  • Joining in with other dogs
  • Chasing balls
  • Walks and outdoor activities
  • Attention and affection
  • Food!
  • Playing in the garden
  • Lounging around and relaxing

She dislikes being left alone, cats, having her nails done and having her ears or face touched.

Cleo’s Ideal Home

Cleo would suit an experienced Beagle home with another compatible dog, where she can enjoy company, walks, outdoor play and plenty of attention.

Her new family will need to understand and respect her personal boundaries, particularly around handling her face, ears and feet and when another dog is getting into her personal space.

A home with older, dog-savvy children aged 10+ would be preferable, and Cleo must be the only cat in the household.

Cleo sounds like a sociable and affectionate girl who enjoys being part of a family and having canine company, but she will need a home that understands her individual boundaries and gives her the opportunity to settle and thrive.
