🐾 Meet Benji — A Loving, Playful Beagle Looking for His Forever Home

Benji is a bright, affectionate Beagle who adores people, playtime, cuddles, and family life. He’s healthy, microchipped, fully housetrained, and a wonderful companion who loves to be involved in everything his humans are doing.

 Reason for Rehoming

Benji’s family circumstances have changed. His owner is caring for a frail mother, and her daughter along with young children have had to move into the home. Sadly, with so much going on, Benji isn’t getting the attention and time he deserves. This is a loving rehome from a family who simply can’t cope with the extra demands.

 Personality

Benji is incredibly loving, gentle with children and enjoys being close to his people. He’s playful, enthusiastic, and has that classic Beagle charm — cheeky, energetic, and always ready for a game.

He loves:

  • Fetch and sniffing games
  • Beagle meet-ups and running with other dogs
  • Snuggling up on a chair with you
  • Being chased when he has a toy
  • Treats (a big motivator for training!)
  • Walks and outdoor adventures

 Training & Behaviour

  • Housetrained: Excellent — he goes to the back door or barks for attention when he needs to go out.
  • Crate: Uses his crate by choice, as well as a separate bed.
  • Left alone: Can be left up to 4 hours with no issues.
  • Travel: Travels very well in the car, even long distances.
  • Lead walking: Pulls on a neck collar but has improved; also uses a long line for freedom.
  • Recall: Not reliable, so not safe off lead in unenclosed areas.
  • Cheekiness: He doesn’t destroy furniture, but will steal and sometimes eat socks, towels, shoes or clothing if left lying around.
  • Resource guarding: If you try to take something without offering a treat, he may growl. He will happily return stolen items when a treat is offered — training and boundaries will help this improve.

 Social Behaviour

  • Dogs: Friendly and enthusiastic. Barks when excited but only to play. Great at off-lead Beagle meets in the past.
  • Cats: Has had some close calls where cats have tried to scratch his nose — best suited to a home without cats.
  • . Loves cuddles and interaction.

 Food & Routine

  • Fed Pedigree wet food at 7–8am and 4–5pm.
  • Calm and gentle around food and happy to be stroked while eating.
