About Bella
Bella is a typical beagle with a strong personality, lots of determination and a powerful nose that often leads the way! She enjoys exploring, following scents and being involved in everything going on around her.
She is confident, intelligent and knows her own mind. Bella thrives with structure but will push boundaries if not given clear guidance.
Training & Behaviour
- Walks on lead but pulls when following scents
- No formal training classes
- Crate trained
- Can be left for a couple of hours, but may toilet indoors
- Travels well in the car
- Not let off lead due to poor recall and strong scent drive
Bella can be destructive, especially with:
- Remote controls
- Household items
- Bins (will knock over and scavenge)
Behaviour Considerations
Bella shows resource guarding, particularly around food:
- May bark aggressively if challenged around food
- Items can sometimes be traded for treats, depending on value
Social Life
Dogs:
- Bella has lived with another dog but it was a different breed and it just didn’t work well.
- Bella has been getting on well with the other beagles in kennels so could live with another beagle if a good match, her new owners would have to be able to manage food issues with 2 beagles well.
Cats:
- Lives with three cats
- Generally fine, but may react if they approach her food
Children:
- Good with teenagers
- No experience with young children – not recommended
Food & Routine
- Fed twice daily
Sleeping
- Sleeps in her crate or on a dog mat
Personality & Traits
Bella is:
- Clever and determined
- Very food motivated
- Curious and scent-driven
- Strong-willed and independent
She needs clear boundaries and consistency to thrive.
Ideal Home
Bella would do best in:
- An experienced dog home (ideally with knowledge of resource guarding)
- An adult-only home or with older teenagers
- A secure garden
- Someone able to provide structure, routine and supervision
Summary
Bella is not a beginner dog, but in the right home with experienced owners, she has the potential to become a loyal and rewarding companion.
She needs understanding, patience and consistent handling to help her feel secure and to manage her guarding behaviours safely.
