Bella 1

About Bella 1

Bella is a tricolour female, born in August 2015.  Bella is looking for an adult only home, as her owner’s health has deteriorated.  Bella is vaccinated, neutered and microchipped.

We are asking for an adult only, dog experienced, home for Bella as she has sleep startles, and reacts badly if she is woken unexpectedly.  Dogs with sleep startles assume that they are being woken by a predator, and panic.  This panic can manifest in growling, snarling or snapping, which would obviously frighten a child.  As long as everyone in the home is old enough to understand that Bella must be woken slowly and gently, and that her sleeping environment must be respected, Bella’s sleep startles shouldn’t be a problem.

Bella is an enthusiastic walker, who goes for walks wearing a harness.  She can pull on the lead at first, but will settle down once she hits her stride.  She can be let off lead on walks.  Bella is happy to travel in the car, and has been on long and short journeys.  Bella is fine with off lead dogs, and enjoys playing with them, but may bark at them if both sides are on their leads.  She goes to doggy daycare, and loves spending time with her friends there.

At home, Bella is house trained and crate trained, and can be left on her own for a few hours.  Bella is not destructive, but would need a very secure garden, as she likes trying to find a way out of any garden she finds herself in.  Bella can resource guard items which she steals if she feels they are high value items.  She will usually trade these items for a higher value treat.  This is something which her new family would have to continue to keep her resource guarding under control.

Bella has never lived with cats, so would prefer a cat free home.  Because of her sleep startles and resource guarding, we would prefer that her new home is one where she won’t live with children.  Bella is a really sociable girl, who loves building a strong bond with her people, and will do anything for a cuddle or fuss from those she loves.  She’s a smart cookie who likes to learn new tricks, especially if there’s some cheese on offer as a reward.  Her idea of a great time is being in the great outdoors with her family, chasing a stick or ball, whether that’s on the beach, in the woods or just in her garden.
