Bagel – Gentle, Loyal Beagle Looking for a Calm, Child-Free Home

Name: Bagel
Age: 8 years DOB: September 2017
Sex: Female (spayed)
Colour: Tricolour

Bagel is a lovely, affectionate beagle who is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe and relaxed. She has lived with the same family all her life and has strong, secure bonds with the people she loves.

Personality & Home Life

Bagel is a cuddly, people-oriented dog who adores belly rubs, sofa snuggles, and spending time close to her humans. She is very welcoming to visitors (especially the postman!) and, although initially bouncy with excitement, settles quickly into a chilled and relaxed companion.

She enjoys:

  • Walks and exploring familiar routes
  • Off-lead time in safe areas (good recall when she hasn’t gone too far)
  • Playing with toys, balls, and gentle “wrestling” games
  • Quiet downtime on her bed or the sofa
  • Being close to her people – cuddles help her feel secure

Bagel sleeps downstairs on her own bed or the sofa and patiently waits for breakfast, though she’s much more enthusiastic around dinnertime if cooking is involved!

Health

Bagel was involved in a road traffic accident as a puppy and had surgery on her back right leg, which was rebuilt using metal supports. This has never caused her any ongoing issues and has not affected her mobility or insurance. She is otherwise healthy.

Training & Behaviour

  • Lead trained (may pull if she spots a cat)
  • Crate trained in the past (would benefit from a refresher)
  • Can be left alone comfortably for up to 4 hours
  • Travels well in the car
  • Not destructive
  • No escape attempts

Bagel is generally calm and friendly with dogs she meets on walks and is fine off-lead in open spaces. However, she prefers to be the only dog in the home, as she has previously had scuffles with another dog in a shared household.

She cannot live with cats, as she will chase them if given the opportunity.

Children

Bagel is best suited to a home with older children or adults only. She has become anxious around very young children and has nipped when her personal space was unintentionally invaded during play. She has always been fine with older children and adults and is currently walked by an older child without issue.

Food & Routine

  • Fed twice daily (around 8:30am and 5:30pm)
  • Enjoys meat pouches with gravy and biscuits
  • Food should be kept out of reach – Bagel won’t miss an opportunity if tempted!

Ideal Home

Bagel would thrive in:

  • A calm, child-free or older-children household
  • A home where she can be the only pet
  • Owners who understand anxious dogs and respect her space
  • A family who enjoys walks, cuddles, and relaxed companionship

Final Thoughts

Bagel is a loving, loyal dog who has been deeply cherished all her life. She is secure with her humans, affectionate, and full of beagle charm. With the right environment and understanding owners, she will make a wonderful, devoted companion.
