Alfie

Alfie is a gorgeous 9-year-old tri-colour Beagle looking for a loving new home.

Alfie is an incredibly affectionate and loyal dog who absolutely loves human company. He wants to be close to his people at all times and is happiest curled up beside you, often tucked under the covers at bedtime. He is described as one of the most loving dogs you could wish to meet.

He is fully house-trained, travels well in the car, and can be left alone for short periods of a couple of hours. Alfie enjoys spending time in the garden or sitting by the back door watching the world go by, although any new home will need very secure fencing as he is an accomplished little escape artist and can squeeze through surprisingly small gaps.

Alfie walks well on lead and has previously attended training classes. He can be let off lead only in secure enclosed areas, as his recall is not reliable with everyone. Like many Beagles, once his nose takes over, he can become very selective about listening!

He enjoys playing with toys, especially tug games with rope toys, and will happily “talk” for treats if you ask him to speak. Alfie is food motivated and can be greedy, but he is generally a very easy-going and affectionate companion.

Alfie has lived happily alongside another dog previously and could potentially live with another compatible dog again. His reactions to unfamiliar dogs can vary depending on the other dog’s behaviour. He cannot live with cats, as he will chase them.

• Had a seizure/fit in 2022 but has had no further episodes since
• Has some fatty lumps
• No other known health concerns

Alfie would thrive in a loving home where somebody is around much of the time and where he can enjoy companionship, affection, gentle walks, and a secure garden to relax in safely. He would suit someone looking for a devoted companion who simply wants to be by your side.
