🐾 Skye – Beagle Welfare Rehoming Profile
About Skye
Skye is a beautiful nine-year-old, tri-coloured Beagle, She is a lovely mature girl who enjoys her toys, walks and the comfort of her own bed.
No known health issues have been reported by her current carers. However, some lumps were noted by the vet on 30 December 2025 and appeared to have received an all-clear on 17 January 2026. It would be sensible for these to be checked as part of her veterinary review.
Training & Behaviour
Skye is lead trained and generally walks nicely, with the occasional pull when she catches an interesting Beagle scent. She has not attended formal training classes.
She is housetrained and crate trained. She can be left alone for a few hours and is used to travelling.
Skye has not been let off lead on walks, so her recall and behaviour off lead around other dogs are unknown. She is comfortable off lead in the back garden and is not known to be an escape artist from a secure garden.
She is not destructive, and stolen items can be taken from her without a problem.
People & Children
Skye has shown no aggression towards people.
As with any dog, introductions should be managed calmly and respectfully while her comfort around children is assessed.
Other Dogs
Skye’s history with other dogs needs some consideration. She was attacked by a larger dog a few years ago and has since been wary and can be snappy around bigger dogs. She has generally seemed comfortable around smaller dogs.
She is reported to be okay when approaching other dogs on lead, but her off-lead interactions have not been tested.
Although it is not known whether she could live successfully with another dog, her current carers would prefer a home where Skye is the only dog, allowing her to settle without the pressure of sharing her home with another canine.
Cats
Skye is not suitable for a home with cats. She is reported to bark at and chase them.
Sleeping Arrangements
Skye currently sleeps on a bed on the floor in the bedroom.
She has her own belongings, which her family is happy to pass on to help her settle into her new home:
- Her toy box, with her name on it
- Her own bed
- A small crate
- A larger crate with a sleeping area and food and water station
Skye enjoys playing with her toys but does not have one particular favourite.
What Skye Loves
- Playing with her toys
- Going for walks and following interesting scents
- Having a comfortable bed of her own
- Enjoying a familiar, settled environment
Skye’s Ideal Home
Skye needs a calm, loving home where she can settle at her own pace following the loss of her much-loved owner. At nine years old, she deserves stability, kindness and a family who will give her time to adjust to a new chapter in her life.
An only-dog home without cats would be the preferred option. Her new family should understand that she can be wary and snappy around larger dogs following a previous attack, and should manage encounters thoughtfully rather than expecting her to socialise with every dog she meets.
Skye is housetrained, crate trained, accustomed to being left for a few hours and generally walks well on lead. She could be a lovely companion for someone looking for a mature Beagle to share walks, toys and home comforts.
Her new family should arrange a veterinary check, including a review of the previously noted lumps, and confirm her current weight and ongoing health needs.
She needs a safe, understanding home where she can feel secure, loved and cherished for the rest of her life. ❤️
