About Bruno
Bruno is a lovely 4-year-old boy who enjoys spending time with people and playing with his toys. He is a friendly, sociable boy who enjoys attention and interaction with his humans.
Bruno is fully housetrained and can be left home alone for around 4 hours. He is used to sleeping on a blanket on the floor and enjoys having his own comfortable space.
He is lead trained and walks using a harness, although he can pull. Bruno is not currently able to be trusted off lead, so he will need a secure environment and continued work on his recall.
Training & Home Life
Bruno has not attended formal training classes and is not crate trained, as he does not enjoy being confined in a crate.
He can be destructive occasionally, particularly with socks and toys, so he will benefit from appropriate toys and enrichment and from keeping tempting items safely out of reach.
Other Dogs
Bruno can find larger dogs difficult. When on lead, he will often bark and lunge towards bigger dogs.
He has had positive interactions with smaller dogs when off lead, but based on his previous experience, Bruno would be best suited to a home where he is the only dog.
His new owners will need to be prepared to continue working positively on his reactions to other dogs and manage his interactions carefully.
Resource Guarding
Bruno can guard items that he considers valuable, particularly bones, toys and other “treasures”. He may show aggression if someone attempts to take these items from him.
He is sometimes willing to give items up, but generally responds best to trading the item for a high-value treat rather than having it taken from him.
His new family will need to understand resource guarding and be willing to work with him using positive, reward-based methods.
Cats & Small Animals
Bruno is not suitable to live with cats. He will chase cats and can bark aggressively towards them.
Bruno’s Ideal Home
Bruno is looking for an experienced and understanding home where his individual needs can be recognised and supported.
His ideal home would be:
- The only dog in the household.
- Without cats or other small animals.
- With people who understand resource guarding.
- With someone willing to continue his training using positive reinforcement.
- With a secure garden.
- With owners who understand that he needs careful management around larger dogs.
- A calm, consistent home where he can settle and build confidence.
- Adult only home
Bruno has lots of lovely qualities and enjoys people, play and attention. With the right home, clear boundaries and continued positive training, we hope he can find the stable and loving home he deserves.
