Bruno Ref 3538

Bruno is a handsome four-year-old tricolour beagle with a loving nature and plenty of personality.

Bruno is a friendly, affectionate boy who enjoys spending time with people and loves playing with his toys. He is house-trained and can be left alone for around five hours if needed. He prefers not to use a crate, choosing instead to relax on his blanket on the floor.

When out on walks, Bruno wears a harness and is lead trained, although he can be strong on the lead and will pull at times. He is not currently suitable to be let off lead, as his recall is not reliable. Bruno doesn’t particularly enjoy travelling in the car, so this is something his new family may wish to build on gradually.

Like many beagles, Bruno enjoys food and happily eats a variety of foods. He is fed twice a day, with wet food mixed with biscuits, and always has access to dry biscuits throughout the day. Around his meals he is well behaved, but he can become possessive over high-value items such as bones or objects he has claimed as his “treasures.” He responds best to a calm trade using treats rather than having items taken directly from him.

Bruno would be happiest as the only dog in the home. While he can interact well with smaller dogs, he can become reactive towards larger dogs when on lead, often barking or lunging. He also has a strong chase instinct towards cats and would not be suitable to live with them.

As Bruno needs a home with older, dog-savvy teenagers or an adults only.

At home, Bruno enjoys playing with his toys and socialising with the people he knows and trusts. He can occasionally be mischievous, particularly with socks and toys, but overall he settles well in the home.

Bruno is looking for an experienced owner who understands beagles and is willing to continue working with him on his lead manners and resource guarding. In return, he will reward his new family with loyalty, companionship and plenty of affection.
