Oakley Ref 3495

Oakley Ref 3495

Oakley is a 5-year-old male Beagle with a striking mottled tan and white coat and a truly unforgettable character. He’s full of love, personality, and typical Beagle curiosity – always nose to the ground and ready for his next adventure.

This is an incredibly difficult decision for his owner following emergency surgery, and Oakley now needs a home that can give him the time, attention, and care he thrives on.

The Basics

  • Age: 5 years (DOB: 15/11/2020)
  • Sex: Male (not neutered)
  • Health: No ongoing issues (past minor leg injury as a pup, fully recovered)
  • Microchipped: Yes

At Home

Oakley is a very people-oriented and affectionate dog who absolutely loves attention – in fact, he thrives on it and would happily be with his humans 24/7 if he could!

He currently lives with children and is good with them, enjoying fuss, belly rubs, and being part of the family. He has a funny, loving nature and really bonds closely with his people.

He sleeps in bed with his family and is used to being very included in day-to-day life.

Exercise & Behaviour

Like a true Beagle, Oakley is very scent-driven and loves to explore with his nose down. He walks well but is focused on smells rather than pace.

  • Recall is not reliable, so off-lead time needs care
  • He can be vocal and alert, especially around the home and garden
  • Loves sniffing, exploring, and being busy

Important Information

Oakley does have some behaviours that need understanding:

  • Separation anxiety: He struggles being left alone and can become distressed and vocal
  • Resource guarding: Particularly with items he values (e.g. socks, stolen objects). He may guard and hide items and does not like them being taken away
  • Vet/grooming sensitivity: He dislikes being handled in certain ways (paws, grooming) and may need a muzzle at the vets

Because of this, Oakley would be best suited to:

  • A home where someone is around most of the time
  • An owner with experience or willingness to work with behavioural training
  • A calm, structured environment

Other Animals

  • Dogs: Mixed – can bark at larger dogs but is fine with smaller dogs. Has had a negative experience in the past, so careful introductions are important
  • Cats: Unknown, but shows little interest when out

Personality & Quirks

Oakley is full of character and little quirks that make him very special:

  • Loves belly rubs and fuss
  • Has no sense of personal space – he wants to be close to you!
  • Enjoys toys (especially ones he can shred or de-squeak!)
  • Loves food and tasty treats (especially things like stuffed hooves or home-cooked meals)
  • Enjoys sniffing out treats in the garden
  • Can be cheeky and will “collect” items like socks

Dislikes

  • Being left alone
  • Grooming, baths, and having paws handled
  • The vet (can be nervous and needs support)
  • Car travel (can become travel sick)

The Right Home for Oakley
