💛 About Belle

Belle is a sweet, affectionate beagle with a lovely nature and a real love for people. She’s described as a joy to be around—cheeky, gentle, and very loving. Belle enjoys company, food, comfy beds, and being part of everyday life. She’s a true beagle at heart: curious, food-motivated, and fond of a good nap after some gentle play.

She’s good in the home, enjoys routine, and likes having her own space when things get busy. Belle is happy to be near her people and will often choose her bed if she wants a bit of quiet.

🏡 Reason for Rehoming

This is a heartbreaking decision made entirely in Belle’s best interests. Since a recent divorce, Belle’s separation anxiety has significantly worsened. She becomes very distressed when left alone for longer periods, crying and howling throughout the day. Unfortunately, this has led to complaints from neighbours and placed her owner’s tenancy at risk.

Belle’s owner works around 7 hours a day and no longer has support to help manage Belle’s anxiety. Financial difficulties also mean veterinary care (for a minor issue) is becoming unaffordable. Belle deserves a home where her emotional needs can be fully met.

🩺 Health

  • Generally healthy
  • Has a cyst on her right leg that appeared after an insect sting last summer; it fluctuates in size and may need draining
  • Eats from a puzzle bowl as she eats quickly and can be sick if she eats too fast

🐕 Training & Behaviour

  • Lead walking: Walks nicely on a harness
  • Recall: Not reliable – should stay on lead
  • Housetrained: Yes, asks to go out by standing at the door
  • Crate trained: No
  • Can be left alone: Around 2 hours; does much better with another dog for company
  • Travelling: Excitable at first but settles in the car
  • Destructive behaviour: Scratching doors when distressed (linked to separation anxiety)

Belle has no aggression towards people or dogs. She can steal socks and small items, often turning it into a game, but this is handled calmly and positively.

🐶 Social Life

  • Dogs: Friendly and social; would happily live with another dog and actually copes better with canine company
  • Children: Good with children aged 8+
  • Cats: Unknown (no prior exposure)

🍽️ Food & Routine

  • Food: Asda Hero dry food
  • Feeding times: 7am and around 5pm, with snacks during the day when someone is home
  • Food behaviour: May steal unattended food if reachable (classic beagle!), but polite otherwise

💤 Sleeping

Belle sleeps in her own bed in the bedroom upstairs. She is allowed on the sofa but often chooses her bed, especially when there are visitors and she wants a bit of space.

🎾 Likes & Personality

  • Tug games (kept short as she can get over-stimulated)
  • Fetch—on her own terms!
  • Soft, fluffy squeaky toys
  • Trading found “treasures” (paper, socks) for treats
  • People, cuddles, food, and sleeping

Belle is playful, affectionate, and full of character. She has a lovely balance of enjoying interaction and knowing when she wants quiet time.

🏠 Ideal Home

Belle would thrive in:

  • A home where someone is around most of the day
  • A household with another friendly dog for companionship
  • A calm, understanding environment
  • Owners who can support her with separation anxiety and provide reassurance
  • A secure garden and gentle, regular routine

💖 Belle is a wonderful, loving girl who has so much affection to give. She simply needs a home that can offer her company, stability, and understanding. With the right setup, Belle will reward her new family with loyalty, laughter, and endless beagle love.
